The Glass Man

The first painting in a series of three.

The idea of this monster grew from a simple texture fascination, to a tribute of The Invisible Man, to finally a (gasp) semi-original idea.

The Glass Man is a Doppelgänger. It is born from a ritual and slowly grows and matures as humans might. It does not need food or any basic human necessity. It craves identity, a sense of belonging. Its true form is something like a person covered in glass and oil, its skin constantly cracking and reforming.
To people it appears mostly as any other person on the street, more so someone you do not notice or care to really observe; the homeless, plain, unattractive, etc.
But to some people it looks exactly like themselves, a person observing themselves in this way instinctively causes the to realize this as a bad omen. This realization also activates the monster to eat this person and assume their life. The new life only lasts so long, causing the monster to search for another victim.
